Baseball Wordle
If you are a fan of Wordle, the popular online word game that has taken the internet by storm, you might want to try Baseball Wordle, a new version that challenges your knowledge of MLB players. Jeremy Frank, a baseball analyst and author, and Zachary Ellis created the daily game Baseball Wordle. The game is inspired by Wordle, but instead of guessing a five-letter word, you have to guess the name of a current or former MLB player within nine tries.
The game works like this: You start with an empty grid of nine rows and eight columns. Each column represents a different attribute of the player, such as team, league, division, batting hand, throwing hand, country, birth year, and position. You type in a player's name and hit enter. The grid will then show you how close you are to the correct answer. A green square means you got the attribute right. A yellow square means you got the attribute partially right. A gray square means you got the attribute wrong. For example, if you guess Mike Trout and the answer is Mookie Betts, you will get a green square for league (AL), a yellow square for division (West), and a gray square for everything else.
You can use the clues from the grid to narrow down your options and make smarter guesses. The game also provides hints for each column if you hover over them. For instance, hovering over the team column will show you the team's logo; hovering over the country column will show you the country's flag; and hovering over the position column will show you the position's abbreviation. The game is designed to be challenging but not impossible, and it covers players from different eras and backgrounds.
Baseball Wordle is a fun and addictive way to test your baseball knowledge and learn new facts about MLB players. You can play it on any device with an internet connection, and you can share your results on social media with your friends. You can also check out the leaderboard to see how you rank among other players.
